In the face of current electricity supply challenges in Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) is stepping up with an exciting initiative to empower citizens: the Net Metering Program! While power outages have become a familiar issue, there’s a bright side. Citizens can harness the sun’s energy to not only light up their homes but also reduce their electricity bills.

As we navigate through these chilly days, many have felt the impact of power outages, especially in regions like Harare. However, ZETDC is here to inspire a shift towards renewable energy solutions. The Net Metering Program allows those with solar systems to feed excess power back into the ZETDC network. This not only helps lessen individual electricity costs but also contributes to a more sustainable energy future for our communities!

Recently, the Harare Sunshine City faced unexpected outages, impacting schools, businesses, and traffic systems. Yet, amidst these challenges, the city is presented with a unique opportunity to innovate. The ZETDC encourages everyone to consider solar power as a fantastic alternative source of energy.

A representative from the ZETDC National Contact Centre shared, “With the current low power supply, you can consider solar power as an alternative source of energy.

Kindly note that we are running a Net Metering program where clients with solar systems can feed excess power back into the ZETDC network, helping reduce their electricity bill.”

Let’s come together to embrace this opportunity for a brighter, more sustainable future. By taking advantage of solar energy, we can lighten our homes and our impact on the environment. Together, we can turn challenges into stepping stones for a better tomorrow!
