A solar power community project being implemented by the Government in the Soti Source resettlement area in Gutu promises to transform the lives of thousands of villagers.

The 160-kilowatt project, being rolled out through the Rural Electrification Fund, will power Soti Source Clinic and the local business centre. Soti Source Primary and Secondary schools will also benefit from the solar project.

The Special Presidential Advisor on Monitoring and Implementation of Government Projects and Programmes, Dr Jorum Gumbo, toured the project, which is now 95% complete.

Dr Gumbo said the project is a game-changer and will positively impact lives.

The Soti Source solar power community project is also a testament to the Government’s drive to modernise rural areas in line with Vision 2030.

Gutu Ward 3 Councillor Petros Magumise paid homage to the Second Republic for its development-oriented thrust, saying that since its establishment in 1981, the resettlement area had seen few developmental projects.
