The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) announced a revision to fuel prices in both Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL) and US dollars. These new prices are effective from April 5th, 2024, and will remain in place until May 5th, 2024.
The price increase is significant, with Diesel 50 jumping from ZWL$26,086.51 to ZWL$44,325.83 per litre. Blend (E10) also saw a rise, going from ZWL$25,933.19 to ZWL$44,689.53 per litre.
Interestingly, the US dollar price for Diesel 50 decreased slightly from US$1.69 to US$1.68 per litre. However, Blend (E10) saw a one-cent rise in US dollar pricing, moving from US$1.68 to US$1.69 per litre.
ZERA emphasised that this pricing is based on the M-1 method and applies throughout April 2024. The blending ratio remains at E10, which signifies a 10% ethanol blend with unleaded petrol. Fuel station operators are permitted to offer these fuels at a lower price if their business model allows, but they must clearly display prices as mandated by regulations.
It’s important to note that this is a revision from the E5 ratio announced last month. The E10 ratio applies uniformly across the country and is only implemented by licensed blenders who adhere to ZERA’s guidelines.
